i LOVE this one. it's from a picture i got off google of a child from Darfur. originally my concentration was going to be the children of Darfur, but i decided not to. i spent so much time on this one i knew i'd never get an assignment in on time if i chose that concentration. his eyes are so haunting for such a young baby. its heartbreaking

done in charcoal.

Edit:
Thank you so much for all the faves! I'm really glad everyone is enjoying the piece so much! I don't think I could thank everyone individually so here's a huge thank you from me to you for giving this little guy some love :)

This is SO beautiful! You caught his little expression perfectly.

This is amazing. Beautiful, as the previous person said, as well.

i feel the emotion through the computer screen, i can't imagine seeing this drawing in person. amazing detail.

I love the way you handled his face, this picture curves so fluidly from one point to the next.. It looks both realilstic and stylized! Your color choice is awesome, and it contrasts his eyes so well, they really pop forward and become the focus for the pic. Awesome piece!

I almost cried when I looked at this, especially after reading your description... Very haunting, yet very beautiful. I love it.

ya, that one exactly! i chose not to do the flies because i had a deadline and didn't have time to work them into the charcoal. But that picture just broke my heart and it begged to be shared.
